Mexico has been on my travel whishlist ever since I can remember, so coming here was a dream come true :)
Everything is as beautiful as they tell you, the cenotes are unbelievable, the food is incredible and the people are so nice. I wish we could have stayed for a month, there's so much more to see!
There's actually no best time to visit Quintana Roo and Yucatan but from the end of May until August there's risk of hurricanes and also there has been a lot of Sea Weed in the Ocean that makes it impossible to go to the water but you can always enjoy the beautiful cenotes :)
But let's start this Itinerary:
1st Day: Cancún to Isla Mujeres
2nd Day: Isla Mujeres
3rd Day: Isla Mujeres to Playa Del Carmen
4th Day: Day trip to Cozumel
5th Day: Playa del Carmen to Valladolid
6th Day: Chichen Itza to Tulum
7th - 14thDay: Tulum
15th Day: Tulum to Cancún
So first off, we flew from Lisbon, Portugal to Cancún with TAP.
From Cancún we took a transfer (50€) at the airport and got to Porto Juarez, (if you book in advance you'll get a better price than we did) to get the 6am ferry (190 MXpesos pp) to Isla Mujeres and this is where our trip begins.
We stayed in Isla Mujeres for 2 nights at Nomads Experience Hostel.
We stayed in the private room with private bathroom. The Hotel has it's own private beach, the best breakfast we had in Mexico, restaurant available at every hour, including pokés, pizza and mexican food of course and also golf cart rentals or bike rentals!
And now you're probably thinking, "golf carts? What is she talking about?!"
Well, if you ever go to Isla Mujeres you'll see this is the way to move at the island! Everyone has they're own golf cart and it's so much fun!
We rented the golf cart for a day and went from one side of the Island to the other.
Starting the morning at Playa Norte, the best beach at Isla, you can rent a beach chair for 15€ the entire day, enjoy fresh coconuts and a lot of amazing local food and finished off the day at Ponta Sur, great for the views but it does not have a beach.

After Isla we went to Playa Del Carmen.
We got the ferry from Isla Mujeres to Cancun Porto Juarez (190MXpesos pp), then we got a taxi to Ado Bus Station and from there we took the bus to Playa del Carmen zona turistica.
We stayed at Playa for 2 nights at Antera Hotel super close to 5a Avenida.
After el Fogon you should definitely go to 5a Avenida for some 2x1 Margaritas and party!
On the 2nd day at Playa del Carmen we took the 10am ferry to Cozumel!
Make sure you go to the ferry line at least 1h30 before schedule so you don't miss the ferry! That happened to us and we almost missed our Snorkeling trip!
The ferry from Playa to Cozumel takes 40min and costs 500 MX pesos pp round trip!
The whole purpose of going to Cozumel was to enjoy some amazing snorkeling! We took a half day trip with Cozumel excursions for 50$ pp, 4h of tour, 3 snorkeling points, guacamole made in front of you at El Cielito and drinks included!
Honestly it was one of the best days of the entire Mexico trip and the best guac we ever had! I would
definitely do it again!

We saw turtles, starfish, a lot of fishes and the bluest water ever!
After Playa Del Carmen we went to Yucatan, we rented a car at ISIS car rental for 220€ for 1week. This was the best price we found and they even picked up the car from Tulum for only 20€ extra. Super nice, honest people! Definitely recommend.
The first stop we did at Yucatan Peninsula was VALLADOLID, a super colorful little town where we had an amazing lunch at YAKUNAJ comida mexicana!
We stayed for one night at Hotel Okaan, super close to the nature, in the middle of the Jungle, one minute away from Chichen Itza.
The best sunrise we've ever seen , the people are so nice, we had dinner in the room and the food was amazing.
If you're super scared of bugs I honestly don't recommend this hotel but if you want to see butterflies when the sun is shining and enjoy the jungle view this is the place for you!
To Oxman we went right at opening time so there was no one there and it worked.
We had the Cenote to ourselves, quite scary to jump in the water but totally worth it!
This cenote is located close to Valladolid and it's super easy to find!
Then, we went to Suytun cenote. The best time to go is around 12pm because the light will be perfectly lined up with the whole in the ceiling but at that time there will be more people than in the morning since these cenotes are very famous.

After that it was finally time to head out to the amazing and well know city of TULUM! We got there by car, it's a 2h drive from Chichen Itza.

The first hotel was in Zona Hotelera and it's Called Hip Hotel Tulum.

It was definitely our favorite because of the location. It's a beach front hotel, super close to Lolita Lolita (the Follow That Dream sign) in the best area of Tulum.
Parties at a walking distance, a lot of restaurants but as it is almost at the end of Zona Hotelera it's not noisy and it's just perfect!
We rented bikes for the 3 nights we stayed here and had the best time, riding your bike everywhere in the middle of zona hotelera and it's the best feeling you can get.
After enjoying Zona Hotelera to it's maximum it was time to go over to zona arqueologica and get to know some other beaches, restaurants and sip on some coconut water for some chill days away from the madness.
We chose Playa Esperanza for this. Another beachfront hotel, beachfront with little cabanas on the sand.
You can literally hear the waves at night, the whole hotel runs on sun power energy, people are super nice and at night time the hotel gets lighten up with candles and it's magical.
While we stayed at Playa we still had our car so we decided to have dinner in town because at Zona arqueologica there's not so much options for dinner, since everything closes around 7pm.
If you don't have a car you can bike everywhere from there.
After two nights we change hotel and went to Mayan Monkey Hostels in Tulum Town.
At Mayan Monkey they have bike rental so we rented one for the 3 nights we stayed there!
We rode our bikes to beach clubs at zona hotelera, for dinner in town and just to stroll around!
They have a pool at the Hostel, happy hour from 7-8pm, great music and the nicest people and a great pool!
They also have yoga everyday from 8-9am and it was the best! I absolutely loved it!

| While in Tulum we took a snorkeling tour with a company located in Playa Paraiso. We didn't love it because we had an amazing snorkeling tour in Cozumel, but if you can't go to Cozumel this is a great option and if you have the opportunity to swim with the turtles in Akumal, take that tour! |
This is a must visit spot if it's open, so don't forget to stop by!
This was our Mexico Itinerary, perfect for 2 weeks if you also want to relax a bit and enjoy Tulum to it's fullest!
